Katy Perry mocks Christianity by wearing red cross while emulating pole dancing with broomstick in front of dancers in demonic costumes at Grammy awards show.
Entertainment plays such a huge role in our society from the music we hear to the television programs we watch. But how would our daily lives change if we practiced viewing the world through biblical lenses? What if we placed our entertainment choices into two categories: “Of God” and “Of satan.” How would our preferences change? How careful would we be of the entertainment we allow into enter our homes, our eyes, our ears… our spirit?
The entertainment industry has been at war with God for a long time, but media attacks have boldly increased in recent years. Songs, award shows, movies and sporting events like the Super Bowl are boldly becoming anti-Christian. In mainstream media, homosexuality is glorified and treated as the “new norm.” Not to mention all the sex, profanity and violence, and that has dominated movies and television for decades.
When we turn on our televisions, we have no control over what comes across the screen. When we sit in front of the silver screen, we open our minds to receive the images, the music and the messages given (Hence the term “ENTERtainment”). Please keep these things in mind:
- Don’t mindlessly watch television. Keep your eyes open for what a television program is actually promoting or endorsing.
- Don’t buy into every news report that comes out.National news media is not always truthful.
- Listen to song lyrics for deeper meanings. Songs like poetry sometimes have dual meanings. Pay attention to what artists are really saying.

Always be alert of satan’s attacks and please evaluate what you allow in your spirit for entertainment. We are at war every single day with the god of this world. James 4:4 reads,“Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.” Don’t be a friend of the world. Biblical lenses are not wishful thinking; you have them by having your heart and mind fixed on Jesus. It can be so difficult turning away from some things that enter-tain us, but it gets easier the more we let the Word of God enter-dwell us.
Be blessed! – Clemon
